ISLAY FERRY SERVICE

Saturday 22cnd nov
M.V Hebridean Isles had to leave kennacraig this evening bound for Brodick,Isle Of Arran this was due to the M.V Caledonian Isles has technical problems.

Sunday 23rd

M.V Hebridean Isles arrived brodick but could not berth due to the Adverse weather, So they steamed about then gave it a second go but still couldent make it, By this point the Caledonian Isles was out on trials and due to the weather she went across to brodick from ardrrosson, M.V Hebridean Isles set sail for Gourock to berth for the night. M.V Caley Isles berthed at Brodick overnight and then took up the service the next morning.

Monday 24th

M.V Caley Isles took up her service and the M.V Hebridean Isles Departed Gourock at 1300hrs bound for Kennacraig so she could take up her 0700hrs sailing the next morning to islay.

Silo collapse at whisky facility

The silo collapse spilled hundreds of tonnes of barley across the site
A grain silo has collapsed at a maltings plant in Islay spilling several hundred tonnes of barley across the site.
A spokeswoman for the drinks company, Diageo, said the silo came down at Port Ellen Maltings sometime before 0600 GMT on Friday.
No-one was injured although nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.
Work at the site has been suspended while structural engineers carry out an investigation into the collapse.
The Diageo spokeswoman said it was unlikely that the incident would have an effect on whisky production.
The company employs 47 people on Islay, 12 of whom are based at Port Ellen Maltings.

Yesterday the Faversham ships owned M.V Shetland Trader arrived at Port Ellen with a 1520ton of malting barley but due to the rain there was no discharge but today when i went down to start discharge i was told that we couldent start because ther is no storage. So the Shetland Trader departed and set sail for the Port of Buckie...

Islay Ferry Service

The 1800hrs sailing from kennacraig tonight was diverted to Port Askaig not Port Ellen as Per timetable this was due to the Adverse weather forecast, This ment that the 0945hrs sailing sunday morning will be from Port Askaig instead of Port Ellen.
